Miles Conrad creates paintings, sculpture, and immersive environments exhibited nationally. His work was featured in the 2017 Whitney Biennial in participation with the Occupy Museums Collective in the Debt Fair Project. He received the Tucson Museum of Art, Contemporary Art Society ’Award of Excellence’ for his work in the Arizona Biennial 2011. Miles received a three year studio grant by the Artist-In-Residence program at Process Museum in Tucson, Arizona.
Miles earned his BFA from CalArts in 1992 and his MFA from San Francisco Art Institute in 2009. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Encaustic Artists Association in 2016. Miles owns and operates his own handmade encaustic paint supply busines at www.custom-encaustics.com.
For 18 years, he has presented comprehensive workshops locally and nationally, teaching students innovative techniques for working with encaustic. For seven years he has delivered comprehensive art instruction in the history, theories and practices of contemporary art for middle school, high school, college, and graduate school learners.
Miles served as the founding director of Conrad Wilde Gallery from 2005-2018. The gallery hosted innovative exhibitions in Tucson and at several international art fairs in Los Angeles, New York and Miami. He serves as a private career consultant to artists nationwide.
